Privacy

What this site collects, what it does not, and how to reach us about your data.

This site is a research publication. It sells nothing, has no accounts, no login, and no forms. That keeps this page short, and everything below describes what actually happens rather than what a template would say.

What we do not do

What is collected anyway

Server logs

The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare records requests: IP address, the page requested, browser and operating system, referring page, date and time. This happens automatically and is used to keep the site running and to block attacks and abuse.

Legal basis under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR: legitimate interest in operating and securing the site (Article 6(1)(f)). Cloudflare acts as our processor and as an independent controller for its own security purposes; see theCloudflare privacy policy.

Email you send us

If you write to us, we hold your message and address for as long as it takes to deal with it, plus a reasonable period afterwards in case the matter comes back. Corrections and rights of reply are kept longer, because a published correction has to be traceable to the request behind it.

Legal basis: legitimate interest in responding to correspondence, and, for corrections, in maintaining an accurate public record.

Please do not send us more than you need to

Several pages on this site explain what to do if a broker has closed while holding your money, and they suggest writing to the firm with your account details. That advice is about writing to them, not to us.

We do not need your account numbers, balances, statements, passport or payment details, and we would rather not receive them. If you write to us about a firm, a description is enough. Anything sensitive that arrives unasked is deleted once we have read it, and we will say so in the reply.

Who else sees your data

Cloudflare, as host and network provider. Our email provider, for messages you send. Nobody else: we do not sell, rent or share personal data, and there is no advertising network on this site to share it with.

Where data is held

Cloudflare operates a global network, so requests are served and logged from whichever location is nearest to you, including outside the UK and EEA. Transfers rely on the safeguards described in Cloudflare's own documentation.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EEA, you can ask us for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to our processing it, or ask us to restrict it. Write to the address below and we will answer within one month.

In practice the only data we are likely to hold is an email exchange, because server logs are not linked to a name and we have no way to find "your" request without something to search on.

You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in the EU, the authority in your country.

Children

This site is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly hold data about children.

Who is responsible

The Broker Bench is an independent publication. Data protection questions and requests go to privacy@thebrokerbench.com.

Being completed

This site is currently run by its individual publisher rather than by a registered company, and the operating entity is not yet named here. We are saying that plainly instead of leaving the section vague. The name and address of the responsible entity will be published on this page as soon as it exists, and the date of that change will be recorded below.

Changes

Material changes are noted here with a date, in the same way corrections are noted on reviews. This page was last updated on 5 August 2026 and is the first version.
